Writing Fast but Smart: Analyzing Evidence or Data Effectively

Mar 20, 2026 01:00 PM to 04:00 PM
Mills Library 215

Registration Deadline: Mar 20, 2026 12:00 PM

Writing can be hard, overwhelming, and intimidating-but it's something you can't avoid.

What are professors really looking for? Are there practical steps you can follow to reach that goal? More importantly, how can you master the skills to turn straw into gold within a limited time?

Dr. Yi Zhu is happy to guide you on that journey. Drawing on his extensive experience teaching and tutoring undergraduate students, as well as his own success in multiple doctoral-level courses, Dr. Zhu will share the secrets to writing high-quality academic papers.

Analysis is where your essay comes alive. You'll learn strategies to dig deeper into your evidence and use a handy worksheet we provide to identify what is missing in your analysis. In addition to textual evidence, we'll also touch upon analyzing data. After this session, you should be able to apply some techniques that can make your analysis more nuanced, insightful, and convincing.

Sometimes, taking a small risk leads to big progress. Why not register and give it a try?
